Description
A quiet moment of domesticity unfolds in this oil painting. The scene captures a stainless steel sink holding a few discarded items. A pale bowl rests inside another, cradling a solitary spoon. Beside them, a lime green glove adds a sudden burst of saturated color to the muted palette. The composition transforms a mundane chore into a meditative study of form and light.
The artist employs a revisited academicism to elevate the ordinary. Soft shadows define the metallic curves of the basin. The play of light on the ceramic surfaces creates a tangible sense of volume. This approach evokes a poetic nostalgia for the rhythms of daily life.
Every element feels deliberate and still. The contrast between the industrial grey and the vivid green creates a subtle visual tension. It is an exploration of the beauty found in the overlooked. The artwork invites the viewer to find fascination in the stillness of common objects. The gaze is drawn toward the precise rendering of the drain and the gentle slope of the sink's edge.
Presentation
Claudine Picard is a French artist born in 1949 who lives and works in Sainte Marie, France. She is graduatedfrom the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD). Nature is for the artiste an infinite source of inspiration. Her work is experimental research, she is inspired by everyday life through figurative expression as a revisited academicism. Claudine provokes the imagination and the reminiscence of memories, lost and poetic emotions by matching symbolic subjects with inhabited and mysterious objects. These in their immobile presence and the fixity of their stripping induces a fascination. Still life immerses us in an atmosphere where the components chosen by associations of shapes and climates resonate each others. Painting is for the artist the search for an aesthetic emotion. As in the way of naturalists entomologists or botanists, she groupes by themes and materials, elements that make up her paintings.
