Description
There are connections we recognize immediately, and others that we simply feel.
In Natural Flow, Maria Ruisi creates an immersive visual field where color, movement and fine linear structures appear to communicate continuously across the canvas.
Deep violet, burgundy and magenta establish an atmospheric background from which intensely colored organic forms emerge. Crimson, fuchsia, pink, turquoise and electric blue gather, overlap and disperse throughout the composition.
Around them, delicate white lines travel across the surface in long fluid trajectories. They bend around forms, converge, separate and reconnect, giving the painting an extraordinary sensation of circulation.
These lines may evoke currents, signals, neural pathways, communication networks or invisible forces. Yet Ruisi deliberately avoids defining them.
The work remains open.
The viewer is invited to follow these pathways visually and construct an individual relationship with the composition.
This ambiguity is reinforced by the intimate sentence handwritten by Maria Ruisi on the reverse:
“Not every signal is meant to be understood."
The phrase provides a key without providing an answer.
It suggests that some forms of communication exist beyond language: an intuition, a sensation, an attraction, a memory or simply the inexplicable response we sometimes experience in front of an artwork.
The contrast between the powerful chromatic masses and the precision of the fine white lines creates a balance between spontaneity and structure. From across a room, Natural Flow presents an immediate explosion of color and movement. As the viewer approaches, increasingly delicate relationships between the individual forms become visible.
