Description
The oil on canvas captures a moment of suspended tension. Two figures intertwine in a vertical and tight composition. The chromatic contrast marks the scene. A deep black envelops the male figure, while light tones and ochres illuminate the female silhouette.
The brushwork is precise. The movement is frozen in an ambiguous embrace. One arm is raised, wrist closed, towards the top of the frame. This verticality guides the gaze and accentuates the feeling of fragility. The woman's face, tilted, suggests surrender or submission.
The artist works the light to sculpt the volumes. The faces show orange nuances, almost burned, which contrast with the paleness of the hands. The background, treated in broad horizontal bands, evokes a bare wall or a confined space. The figurative approach emphasizes here the intensity of the human connection. Each brushstroke reinforces the dramatic density of this double portrait. The composition ends with a play of shadows on the bottom of the canvas.
Presentation
I grew up in a family where art was predominant, but in a more recreational way.
My practice started with plastic arts, and changed after repeated visits to my aunt's old studio. The passion was born amidst tubes of oil paint, brushes, and turpentine essence.
I later discovered the world of the painter Pascal Cessou by spending some time in his studio and I took painting classes with Michel LHOTE.
In my artistic journey, I have done interior decorations in acrylic, pastel, and oil paint, today I mainly do oils on canvas.
My initial training is in a higher education course in design and architecture, a more technical approach to drawing.
I have been painting for about thirty years and since May 2026 I set up as Artist Painter 12 avenue Gallieni in Sanary sur Mer.
Women are the main subject of my art, even if I sometimes escape into other areas.
