Liao is known for his ability to merge the rigorous and mathematical discipline of architecture with a soft and human emotion. His characteristic style is clearly visible in this work:
extremely fine ink lines that capture with surgical precision the immense complexity of the city and the intense traffic around the Arc de Triomphe. Subtle washes in watercolor lend the work a dreamlike, almost nostalgic atmosphere. The transition between the detailed foreground and the more abstract and light lines of the background creates a remarkable effect of depth. Liao captures the pulse of the city here; from this elevated viewpoint, the chaos of traffic becomes an organized dance, a central theme in his exploration of human patterns.

Miguel Liao, born in Barcelona in 1986, is internationally acclaimed for his multidisciplinary approach. His work is collected by connoisseurs who appreciate the balance between classical drawing techniques and a modern, almost visionary, view of our urban environment. This work in particular is a magnificent example of his early interest in urban structures, before he turned to large-scale digital installations.
