Description
The art of collage is expressed here through a dense and rhythmic composition. The canvas assembles fragments of paper, journalistic texts, and botanical elements. A toucan with a fixed gaze dominates the scene, its curved beak guiding the eye to the center of the creation.
Touches of solar yellow punctuate the space, recalling the warmth of tropical climates. A classic female figure emerges from the paper, creating a striking contrast with the natural motifs. The play on textures opposes the grain of the old paper to the precision of the illustrations.
Black typographic letters insert themselves into the organized chaos, bringing a graphic structure to the whole. The background reveals snippets of narratives, transforming the image into a complex visual narration. The balance rests on the opposition between the deep shadows and the luminosity of the flowers. Each layer reveals a new detail, between wild nature and cultural references. The whole is stabilized by the use of earthy tones and organic greens.
Presentation
Régis Ducellis is a collage and mixed media artist based in the Arcachon basin.
Holding a Master's degree in multimedia, he has worked for fifteen years as an art director and illustrator, mainly in Bordeaux.
These years of visual creation have forged his eye, his compositional rigor, and his sense of narrative through images. Tired of an increasingly timid advertising world and creative content that he finds always more watered down, he decides to return to a more spontaneous, rawer, more personal practice. Analog collage, a natural extension of his digital compositions, becomes his preferred medium.
He progressively adds painting, pencil, and various materials, developing a mixed media approach built by layers and accumulations. His universe mixes lush vegetation, fragmented figures, found texts, and superimposed materials. He cultivates a dreamlike territory where softness coexists with the strange, and where each work remains open to the interpretation of whoever looks at it. Régis works on canvas, wood, and any material he crosses his path.
