Description
This atmospheric composition explores the silent dialogue between matter and spirit. The surface pulses with a rhythmic, mineral energy. Muted greys and earthy tones merge into a dense, tactile landscape. The artist employs a sophisticated layering technique. Acrylics and pigments create a weathered appearance. Every fracture suggests a memory. Every texture evokes an emotional scar.
The artwork functions as a meditative space. It avoids direct depiction to favor raw evocation. There is a tension between stillness and movement. The composition mirrors a geological process. It recalls the slow erosion of stone or the fading patterns of ancient walls. A subtle luminosity pierces through the grey haze. This glimmer hints at a sacred presence hidden within the imperfection.
The scale and texture invite a contemplative gaze. The viewer is drawn into a suspended realm. It is a study of vulnerability and strength. The rough grain of the paste adds a physical dimension to the visual experience. The light shifts across the uneven surface. It reveals a complex topography of light and shadow. The painting ends in a soft, atmospheric fade.
Presentation
Gabriela Aleksandra Szuba, known as GAS, is a Polish artist based in Italy. With an academic background in economics, she later embraced an autonomous artistic journey, driven by a deep spiritual search and the desire to give form to the unseen.
Her work emerges from silence and unfolds as a meditative act. Using acrylics, crackle paste, pigments and gold leaf, GAS crafts vibrant, textured surfaces where every fracture holds memory and every layer becomes emotional terrain. The material becomes time, the crack a scar, and the gold a glimmer of sacred presence.
Her paintings do not depict; they evoke. Cracks speak of vulnerability and strength, of a holiness revealed through imperfection. Her palette — deep, restrained, at times dramatic — opens contemplative spaces, poised between tension and stillness, body and spirit.
Each title is a threshold: a symbolic entry into a suspended realm where visual language becomes meditation, a secular prayer, a passage through the invisible.
Her works have been exhibited in Italy, Switzerland, Argentina, and the United Kingdom, in spaces dedicated to contemporary research and the dialogue between artistic languages. For GAS, every exhibition is a natural extension of the creative process — a moment of shared introspection.
