Description
Photo print hand-painted, mounted behind a wooden window, acrylic hand-painted.
The eye scans a dry landscape captured in four segments.
The composition is organized like a window open onto a red earth.
The ochre ground dominates the lower part.
Its dense texture suggests heat and dust.
At the top, the pale sky contrasts with the dry vegetation.
A few trees and bushes punctuate this distant horizon.
Discreet inscriptions float in the air, like traces of memory.
The black frame, worked with nervous lines, encloses the scene.
This graphic outline brings a raw dimension to the whole.
The interplay between photography and drawing creates a visual dialogue.
The natural light emphasizes the harshness and beauty of the site.
The whole evokes a still journey to isolated regions.
The grid format structures the view into a coherent whole.
The image ends with mineral and earthy details.
Presentation
Luc Arrignon alias Lucky Loco is a French artist who lives and works in Fontenay-sous-Bois, France. Until 1995, the artist was invested in hyperrealism which allowed him meticulous observation and rigorous execution. Spontaneity was reduced to the initial conception of his work. Passionate about writing after a brief stint in lithography, Luc switched to calligraphy because of the gestures it involves.
In the relationship between meaning and its forms, he decided to explore the form further in 1998. It has not left him to this day. This is how he paints by "Over-Calligraphing". He works mainly on two mediums. The wood he sculpts in bas-relief by over-calligraphing it with his sculptures. For 5 years, his work of sculpture has really taken off. Finally, the tarpaulin due to the installation of his workshop at the Foundry, an artistic center in Fontenay-sous-Bois. His approach requires him to be able to overwrite hundreds or even thousands of times.
In addition to the gouges, chisels, brushes, reeds, pens and inks, he uses a "Digital Piano", two large screens, an excellent computer equipped with good software, connected to a powerful "plotter" which allows him to print large formats on quality tarpaulin. His work is thus durable, resistant to UVs, frost and rain. It is a flame-retardant work. He the creates unique digital proofs on which he intervenes again with ink, pencil and acrylic paint. Often, it surmounts some of them with carved wood and sometimes mobile folding's.
