Description
Urban art here takes over nature with a striking chromatic audacity. An elephant, a majestic and serene figure, becomes the support of a graphic explosion. The contrast is immediate between the realistic rendering of the animal in black and white and the saturation of the pigments.
The artist superimposes typical graffiti lettering, engaged slogans, and pop motifs. Every stroke of Posca and every pigment ink jet comes to dress the wrinkled skin of the pachyderm. This dialogue between the wild and the urban transforms the animal into a living fresco.
The work on canvas mixes acrylic with a subversive aesthetic. The eye is drawn to messages like Save the Planet, highlighting an ecological awareness under a playful veil. The composition plays on the depth of a stripped landscape to better highlight the central subject.
This 2026 creation is part of a figurative approach where pop culture meets engagement. The precise execution of the contours and the richness of the colors create a constant visual dynamism. The whole relies on a balance between the raw power of the animal and the lightness of street art.
Presentation
Maxime Blachère is an atypical artist from Savoy, now living near Lyon and present in 25 countries and several art galleries in Europe and the US. Maxime Blachère's universe is filled with humor and saturated colors.
Self-taught and versatile, his sources of inspiration are multiple. Comics, pop culture, photography and of course Street-art.In phase with the Fluxus movement, he uses and mixes the codes of the environments that inspires him and of the artists he meets to give free rein to his imagination and deliver offbeat works, sometimes naive, sometimes subversive, like his series of works "Vandal is color" where Maxime takes pleasure in virtually vandalizing urban landscapes around the world.
