Description
This abstract composition explores superposition and matter. The gaze travels through an assemblage of geometric fragments and graphic motifs. Zones of ochre and earth dominate the space, creating an organic background. Blue shapes, adorned with spirals and lines, come to break this chromatic warmth.
The work is distinguished by its tactile richness. Textured areas alternate with smoother flat areas. White dots and broken lines structure the surface, bringing a precise visual rhythm. Each superposition seems to tell a different temporal layer.
The balance rests on the contrast between warm tones and cool touches. The angular cuts suggest meticulous collage. The light plays with the reliefs of the support, accentuating the depth of the pigments. This piece ends with a discreet signature in the lower right corner, integrated into the material.
Presentation
Chahab was born in 1951 in Tehran, residing in France since 1974, he lives and works in Nay (Pyrénées-Atlantiques).
Graduated from the Arts décoratifs of Nice, and from the École des Beaux-Arts of Aix-en-Provence, student of Henri Goetz for carburum engraving technique.
Painter, engraver, and sculptor, he plays with registers of various materials and textures. Heir to a dual culture, he likes to evoke through the imagination the ancient sites of his native Iran and during his Western training, his attraction to surrealism leads him to recreate a teeming universe of forms and colors.
