Description
A woman takes care of her plants on a rooftop. The gesture is calm. The moment is suspended.
The gaze turns towards the horizon where a recognizable urban silhouette is drawn. The sky is dressed in golden and orange hues. This late afternoon light envelops the scene in a serene softness.
The artist plays with contrasts and geometry. The lines are sharp. The precision of the stroke emphasizes a mathematical and rigorous influence.
The foreground comes alive thanks to dense vegetation. The blue flowers and dark leaves create visual depth. Each detail composes a painting on the tranquility of daily city life.
This composition favors atmosphere and silence. The work on light brings a contemplative dimension to the whole.
The work is created via a drypoint technique. It is a fine art paper print made in 2026.
Presentation
It was on the sidelines of his scientific studies that Matthieu Forichon felt in love with drawing and learned to make images. Self-taught, geometry and mathematics still brought him perspectives and rigor in his artistic approach. With an engineering degree in hand, he finally decided to devote himself entirely to illustration. He quickly began to carry out commissioning work for French and then international brands.
Lyonnais at heart, he has always been in love with the atmosphere of cafes, he met the painter Jacques Truphémus and together, they talked about painting for long hours and thanks to his kindness and his advices, Matthieu Forichon started to paint on the sidelines of his work as a digital illustrator.
Passionate about atmospheres and play of light, his figurative painting brushes silent atmospheres where the gaze likes to get lost.
