Description
This fascinating artwork depicts a proud and massive sea turtle, beautifully sculpted. Near life-size, it is part of a series titled "Sunken Worlds Collection" by the artist. It is very finely balanced, allowing it to be posed on its hind legs or supported only on its front legs to give it the impression of floating. This work features blue-gray tones. It is distinguished by intricate gold filigree patterns, which gracefully wind across the shell. These delicate designs add a sense of movement and liveliness to the turtle's tranquility. The skillful use of texture and color gives the piece a visual depth that captures attention. The contrast between the soft blue and metallic sheen emphasizes the elegance and refinement of the whole. This unique representation of the turtle seamlessly blends artistic tradition and contemporary innovation, evoking a sense of peace while celebrating the beauty of nature. It is an exemplary piece that attracts both for its simplicity and its complexity, bringing to mind the light stones of the Mediterranean, as if taken from an ancient world.
Presentation
Virginie DEVIN's work intrinsically links natural materials such as bronze, cracked clay, stone, and steel, recreating life through contrasting harmonies.
The characteristic scars that streak the silhouettes of the marine works refer to the individual history of each person: to the stories engraved in the flesh, shaping the profiles with smooth lines and sheared details.
An artist and explorer of the elements, her passion and inspiration come from the ocean, both a source and a universal focal point. Recognized for the uniqueness of her work, the press has covered many of her events. She is also the founding president of the Terre de Vrai association, which educates children about the environment.
