Description
This captivating sculpture depicts a feline in motion, capturing the fleeting moment of a graceful leap. The work is distinguished by its fluidity, incorporating clean lines that perfectly complement the animal's dynamic form. The dark patina contrasts with the light wood base, accentuating the sculpture's elegance. The tapered tail and pronounced curves of the body suggest speed and power, evoking the wild and agile nature of the feline. This minimalist work succeeds in conveying a sense of life and energy through the simplicity of its forms, while simultaneously evoking the tension and balance of a precise moment of movement. A piece that commands attention with its ability to reveal the essence of movement through elements reduced to their bare essentials.
Presentation
Born in 1970, Gaël Rouxeville is the artist of the Living Curve. His work, disseminated in France and internationally, has been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions, publications, and has been included in private and public collections (notably that of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia).
Drawing on expertise in industrial design and cabinetmaking, and committed to an eco-responsible approach, his creative process engages memory, the unconscious, and the imagination. For 30 years, he has explored the possibilities of the "Living Curve," a source of inspiration, an expressive language, and the guiding thread of his work. The numerous media, materials, and themes he explores are never an end in themselves, but rather a means of approaching and experiencing a universal consciousness.
His work results in a world of organic, “living" forms, figurative or not; forms that are simple in appearance and open to interpretation, engaging the viewer's memories and imagination. Gaël Rouxeville's art is less intellectual than sensual. It's an invitation to let go, to welcome, to stop searching... Like these curves that stretch and relax, it suddenly seems that time is elongating. The boundaries that appeared so clear become blurred, shifting... The mind then floats, as if levitating; a dance of space and time!
