A rare early work from Maria Ruisi's sculptural relief practice, "Emerald Aurora" (2018) unfolds a hand-built texture of ridges and hollows in a gradient running from emerald and turquoise to deep violet. Days of layered acrylic-resin work went into shaping the surface before it was finished with a glossy varnish that lets the color shift with the light.
