Street Art

In den ersten Jahrzehnten der Street Art war das New York der 1980er Jahre voller unerforschter Möglichkeiten, Träume und unaufhaltsamer Kreativität, in deren Mittelpunkt eine Gruppe von Künstlern stand, die an die Kunst als Antwort auf das Leben selbst glaubten. Street Art wurde als ein Mittel angesehen, um die Größe des Lebens, die Feinheiten, den frenetischen Rhythmus der Zeit und auch die leichten Seiten des Lebens darzustellen. Künstler wie Keith Haring waren ein wesentlicher Bestandteil dieser Bewegung, indem sie nicht nur die Untergrundszenen besetzten und sich dort engagierten, sondern auch Kunst für Themen schufen, die den Menschen am Herzen lagen - einschließlich der Fähigkeit, das Leben selbst zu genießen. Haring nutzte die Straße und die U-Bahn-Stationen als Leinwand für universelle Linienführungen, die von spielerischer, kinetischer Energie leben. Unabhängig von Alter, Sprache oder Herkunft spiegeln seine Werke seine Haltung zu Liebe, Sexualität, Krieg, Politik, AIDS und Drogen wider. Seine Werke waren ein Licht in dunklen Zeiten und inspirierten nicht nur eine ganze Generation zum Glauben an die Kunst und ihre Verflechtungen mit dem Leben, sondern auch die Künstler, die nach ihm kamen.
