Fluxus
Das Fluxus-Kollektiv, das für seine ehrgeizige Respektlosigkeit, seine Verspieltheit und sein entschiedenes Manifest gegen das Establishment bekannt ist, wurde in den 1960er Jahren in den Vereinigten Staaten gegründet. Die Künstler, die diese unkonventionelle, interdisziplinäre Gruppe ins Leben riefen, waren der Ansicht, dass die Zugänglichkeit der Kunst durch ein wachsendes Gefühl des Elitismus in der Gesellschaft verloren gegangen war. So versuchte das Fluxus-Kollektiv, die vermeintlichen Grenzen zwischen Kunst und Alltag zu verwischen.
Berühmte Künstler wie Yoko Ono, George Maciunas, Joseph Beuys und Mary Bauermeister leisteten wesentliche Beiträge zur Fluxus-Gruppe, oft in Form von groß angelegten konzeptionellen und experimentellen Kunstaktionen. Der kompositorische Stil der Fluxus-Arbeiten lehnte sich oft an Bewegungen wie den Dadaismus, die Pop-Art und die ostasiatische Kunst an, eine Vielfalt, die von der Vielfalt der künstlerischen Kompetenzen und Stile innerhalb des Kollektivs zeugte. Was die Gruppe jedoch zusammenhielt, war eine gemeinsame Philosophie der künstlerischen Demokratie, der Freude am Schaffen und der Performativität.
