Christine Doucedame

Born in: 1951 France
Translation in progress

Christine grew up in Paris among the pallets and brushes of her painter-sculptor father. Very early, she is fascinated by her studio and is passionate about art.

After training in Applied Arts she worked as a graphic designer for about ten years. She becomes artistic director for the advertising agency LMG. In 1986 a turning point occurred in her life: she decided to focus fully on her family and her passion for painting. She leaves the bustle of Paris and her professional world to settle in Provence. She trained in artistic techniques and took evening classes at the Fine Arts.

Ever since, the scenes of daily life fascinate her. Christine paints moments of life, happy skits that take place in public places. In his works, pubs, beaches and pools are populated by perky characters and accomplices. She loves human contact and represents the conversations and encounters she sees.

The artist draws in his sketchbook and then transposes his sketches on his canvases. This technique allows him to keep only the essential. Christine makes the background using warm tones and a semi-abstract style. she uses the background to make the colors sing and then simplifies her characters until the caricature. She likes to let her protagonists evolve freely in the middle of mysterious sets.
