Waterfall - from series Brasilia, 2016

Sergey Pietilä

A powerful dialogue between stone and water defines this landscape. The composition balances heavy geological forms with the fluid energy of a cascading stream. Deep indigo shadows anchor the left side of the frame. They create a sense of mystery and verticality. In contrast, the right side opens toward a warm, sun-drenched slope. This chromatic tension guides the eye across the rocky terrain.
The artist employs a textured technique. Broad strokes of pastel build a tactile surface. Light plays across the surfaces of the boulders. It reveals a rich palette of ochre, violet, and slate grey. The vegetation clings to the cliffs with organic vitality. Soft greens blend into the dark blue of the rock face.
The water is rendered as a bright, luminous force. It cuts through the stillness of the mineral environment. This artwork captures a moment of timelessness in nature. It emphasizes the raw strength of the earth. The scene remains grounded in a precise observation of light and shadow. Every line reinforces the solidity of the mountain. The final touch is a pale sky that breathes air into the dense composition.
