Description
This striking work is part of Nadège Dauvergne's “Exodus" series, dedicated to wild animals living in the city. It shows a majestic bird of prey perched on a mailbox, blending street art and traditional painting techniques. The bird's detailed plumage, in shades of brown and rust, contrasts sharply with the background composed of gray and black blocks. Subtly integrated graffiti elements add a vibrant modernity to the composition. This juxtaposition of the natural and the urban denotes a reflection on coexistence and adaptation. The artist manages to capture the wild essence of the bird while anchoring it in an industrial universe, thus creating a work that is both timeless and resolutely contemporary.
Presentation
Most street artists are self-taught. Not her. It is after having followed classical studies at the Beaux-Arts, and taking with her a solid cultural and technical background that Nadège Dauvergne turned to urban art.
I grew up in the suburbs of Paris and the world of graffiti has always attracted me, I liked to hang out near the railroad tracks in the wastelands, these are inspiring places," explains the artist. Her work in the street has logically come to feed her works sold in galleries.
In recent years, she has been working on two recurring themes: the (mostly) female figures of academic painting or sculpture that she introduces into the world of urban contemporary art on the one hand, and wild animals that venture into the city on the other. In both cases, these women and these animals, immigrated in an environment which is a priori foreign to them, manage not only to survive, but transfigure their new environment by irradiating it with their mysterious and timeless grace.
