Dreaming with Frida, 2025

Natalya Mougenot   Best sellers

"Dreaming with Frida" is a contemporary, faceless abstract portrait of Frida Kahlo by French artist Natalya Mougenot. Blending elements of impressionism and expressionism, the work reimagines one of the most iconic female figures in art with bold color, emotional depth, and symbolic detail. Frida is depicted with orange flowers in her hair and matching orange earrings, set against a vibrant green background, surrounded by delicate floral elements that evoke both strength and beauty.

For Natalya, this painting is deeply personal. Like Frida, she views art as a path to healing—a way to transform pain and adversity into power. The connection between artist and muse lies in their shared resilience and the belief that creativity is a vital force for survival and self-expression.

At the heart of Mougenot's practice are three guiding values: authenticity, simplicity, and honesty. She paints from emotion rather than trend, focusing on essential forms and raw expression. Every brushstroke is infused with vulnerability, making each piece a window into her life and inner world.

Rendered in oil on stretched cotton canvas, "Dreaming with Frida" is ready to hang and comes carefully packaged from France with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Natalya's distinctive style—bold yet sensitive—has earned her recognition in private collections worldwide. Born in Kazakhstan and based in Lyon, she draws on a multicultural heritage and a deeply personal journey to create art that resonates universally.
