In "Lemon Bloom",  French artist Natalya Mougenot transforms a simple still life into a radiant celebration of vitality, honesty, and freedom. The round, sun-drenched lemons glow like luminous orbs, surrounded by bold green foliage and set within a turquoise vase patterned with playful spirals. With vibrant brushstrokes and unapologetically bright colors, Mougenot creates an image that is less about fruit and more about energy, resilience, and the joy of seeing life in color.

Her approach resonates with the legacies of Impressionism and Fauvism, yet she pushes further into an expressionist territory where emotion takes precedence over form. The thick strokes of yellow, orange, and green carry movement and immediacy, a reminder that her paintings are not constructed to be decorative but to be felt. As she often states: “People always feel what is true and what is not — authenticity in art cannot be faked."

Color is her chosen language of truth. Here, the lemons radiate warmth, symbols of vitality and abundance, while the turquoise vase and its swirling patterns speak of spontaneity and freedom. Mougenot notes: “Vivid colors allow me to speak with the intensity that words cannot reach. They are the voice of emotions, the light of my visions." The composition bursts with contrasts, the earthy background and deep greens amplifying the brilliance of the yellows, reminding us that harmony can emerge from bold, even clashing energies.

For Mougenot, the act of painting is inseparable from freedom. “Liberty is the only space where creation truly happens. When I paint, I want no limits, no boundaries, only the dialogue between my soul, the canvas, and the colors." This liberty is visible in the fearless brushwork, the fluid spirals of white that animate the vase, and the refusal to smooth away the raw power of the paint. What might appear spontaneous is, in fact, grounded in years of technical mastery — an ease born of discipline. As she explains: “Art is a pure expression of the soul, but it is also craft. Technique gives the soul its wings. Without it, freedom cannot take form."

Ultimately, Lemon Bloom is not just a still life, but a manifesto of vitality and honesty. The lemons become emblems of strength and joy, their brightness a reminder that even in simplicity lies resilience. Through her art, InternationalMougenot invites us to see beyond objects — to feel the truth of color, the courage of authenticity, and the beauty of freedom made visible.

Presentation

Natalya is a contemporary  french artist living in Lyon.

She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes.

She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country.

She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now.

In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism,  which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult.

As an artist and as a woman  she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion,  is the pillar for the inner adult.

Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference.

She works  rapidly  and is constantly sensitive  to the details.

Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach.
