Description
The Goddess rides swiftly on horseback through tall green grass. Beneath the horse's hooves lie scattered oranges: fruits that, in earlier works of the series, appeared as signs of the sun and the moon. Now they rest upon the ground like days already lived, having become part of the journey.
Wings unfold behind the Goddess as a sign of transformation, of forward and upward movement. It is she who flies, not the horse: the artist plays with the idea of цomen power and support, reshaping a familiar image. In this work, motion and lightness, physical presence and inner ascent come together. It continues the story of how light changes its form, yet never disappears. Canvas size (unstretched): 150 × 108 cm Stretched size: 140 × 98 × 2.7 cm.
Presentation
Olesia Miftahova is a Ukrainian artist based in Wales, United Kingdom.
Her practice explores how time reshapes memory and how ancient narratives transform through contemporary experience. Drawing on Celtic, Slavic, and Welsh mythology, alongside biblical imagery, she reinterprets archetypes as living forms that continue to evolve across generations.
Working primarily in acrylic, Miftahova employs symbolic imagery and a minimalist visual language to explore memory, mythology, and the shifting meanings of familiar symbols.
In 2025, she presented her solo exhibitions Garden of Memory and Garden of Memories: Growing Beyond in Wales. Her work has been exhibited internationally across the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Greece, Switzerland, Turkey, the Philippines, and the United States, including exhibitions at the Taras Shevchenko National Museum (Kyiv), POSK Gallery (London), and the Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art.
