Description
In a sunlit meadow, among rich green grass and bright flowers, the Goddess lies resting. Her head is placed upon one of two red cushions, while the meadow itself becomes her natural bed. Above her stretches a clear blue sky, deepening the sense of warmth and the fullness of summer. In this scene, the Goddess appears not as a guide or guardian, but as part of the very rhythm of nature. The earth holds her as naturally as it holds all living things. The painting speaks of a moment of renewal, when body and world breathe in the same tempo, and being in nature becomes a return to the source.
In a neighbouring meadow scattered with yellow summer flowers, a lamb rests, a familiar companion of the Goddess from earlier works in the series. It lies in the grass as if the earth itself has shaped a soft place for its rest. This painting continues the previous one, like a single image divided into two parts. Where the Goddess rests, her world rests as well. The lamb embodies natural balance, renewal and the wisdom of cycles. Together with the first painting, it forms one united art object, a diptych that conveys the atmosphere of summer and a time when life does not hurry, and the world exists in the fullness of light, warmth and harmony.
Presentation
Olesia Miftahova is a Ukrainian artist based in Wales, United Kingdom.
Her practice explores how time reshapes memory and how ancient narratives transform through contemporary experience. Drawing on Celtic, Slavic, and Welsh mythology, alongside biblical imagery, she reinterprets archetypes as living forms that continue to evolve across generations.
Working primarily in acrylic, Miftahova employs symbolic imagery and a minimalist visual language to explore memory, mythology, and the shifting meanings of familiar symbols.
In 2025, she presented her solo exhibitions Garden of Memory and Garden of Memories: Growing Beyond in Wales. Her work has been exhibited internationally across the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Greece, Switzerland, Turkey, the Philippines, and the United States, including exhibitions at the Taras Shevchenko National Museum (Kyiv), POSK Gallery (London), and the Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art.
