Description
“Garden stillness" is an original contemporary figurative oil painting by French artist Natalya Mougenot, depicting a woman seated in her summer garden surrounded by flowers and soft natural light. Created on cotton stretched canvas and ready to hang, the work measures 46 × 38 × 2 cm (18.1 × 15 × 0.8 inches). Through simplified forms, luminous color harmonies, and expressive brushwork, Mougenot transforms an intimate everyday moment into a quiet meditation on contemplation, beauty, and inner calm.
This painting reflects Natalya Mougenot's ongoing exploration of feminine presence and emotional atmosphere through scenes inspired by ordinary life. Here, the woman appears immersed in a peaceful moment of silence, seated among flowers and warm summer colors that create a sense of comfort and emotional refuge.
Rather than focusing on precise realism, Mougenot paints the emotional sensation of stillness itself — the feeling of being suspended in a calm moment where nature, light, and thought gently merge together. The figure becomes less an individual portrait than a universal embodiment of introspection, rest, and quiet femininity.
Created in her expressive metamodern style, the work combines emotional sincerity with painterly freedom. Simplified forms, visible brushstrokes, and harmonious color contrasts allow the composition to feel both contemporary and deeply human. The painting embraces authenticity and atmosphere rather than perfection, inviting the viewer into a contemplative emotional space.
As Natalya explains, “I am drawn to quiet moments because they reveal something essential. Silence has its own emotional language."
Soft pinks, creamy ivory tones, luminous yellows, and vivid greens create a palette inspired by gardens in summer bloom. The flowers arranged in the foreground reinforce the atmosphere of tenderness and serenity, while touches of turquoise and rose add freshness and lightness to the composition.
Mougenot's spontaneous brushwork remains visible across the surface, preserving the immediacy and vitality of the artistic gesture. Her intuitive approach allows the painting to retain a sense of movement and emotional openness, balancing simplicity with depth.
“Garden stillness" becomes a meditation on peaceful solitude, feminine sensitivity, and the restorative beauty of nature. The work invites viewers to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with the quiet emotional richness hidden inside everyday moments.
This painting will appeal to collectors drawn to contemporary figurative art, expressive modern painting, and emotionally resonant interiors. Its soothing palette and contemplative atmosphere make it especially suited to bedrooms, reading spaces, elegant living rooms, or creative interiors seeking a serene yet vibrant focal point.

Presentation
Natalya is a contemporary french artist living in Lyon.
She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes.
She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country.
She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now.
In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism, which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult.
As an artist and as a woman she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion, is the pillar for the inner adult.
Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference.
She works rapidly and is constantly sensitive to the details.
Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach.
