Description
This composition leads the tension between strong colors and deep shadows.
A bright violet shapes the left side. It meets a central black void. The forms flow in a subtle, organic curve.
This makes the geometry not static.
On the right side, a rich forest green emerges. It forms a cool contrast to the warmth of the violet.
The interplay of these tones creates a rhythmic visual pulse. Each color block claims its own space. The boundaries are clear and yet fluid.
This balance has a meditative quality.
The artist focuses on the purity of the pigment. The flat application of color eliminates any distraction. This directs the eye to the raw emotionality of the color palette.
The artwork transforms a simple grid into a study of weight and light. It conveys a feeling of architectural stability. The dark center acts like a gravitational core.
It draws the surrounding colors into a tight, harmonious dialogue. The result is a refined exploration of chromatic relationships.
The surface has a uniform texture throughout the canvas.
The work can be hung directly.
Presentation
Klaus Hoffmann, born 1957
In his works, Klaus Hoffmann explores the interactions of colors and forms, the special color contrasts and the effect of pure monochrome color surfaces.
In doing so, he avoids figurative associations and orients himself towards the art movement of Concrete Art.
He mostly uses geometric forms, which can also show deviations and breaks.
His aim is to create works that only represent themselves and do not refer to things that are outside the pictorial space, in the visible world.
They should also enable a sensual experience of the colors and forms and their interactions.
He works with pure, high-quality pigments, which are rubbed into aqueous acrylic dispersion and applied in numerous thin layers to give the color surfaces depth and enhance their luminosity.
Self-primed raw linen, whose natural structure remains recognizable, serves as the picture support.
This incorporates the picture support into the work and creates an autonomous overall work.
Hoffmann was educated at the Wiesbadener Freie Kunstschule and Freie Kunstakademie Frankfurt, with a focus on painting, composition, and color theory.
