Description
Gold Refuses Gravity explores the power of elevation, movement, and light. Against a deep background of midnight blue and turquoise, large golden gestures traverse the composition and seem to rise beyond the physical limits of the canvas.
Built by successive superimpositions of acrylic and pigments, the work possesses a depth that reveals itself progressively. The metallic pigments and the gold leaf capture the light and subtly change intensity according to the angle of observation.
Maria Ruisi thus creates a tension between darkness and light, stability and movement. The ascending golden forms become an evocation of freedom, energy, and transcendence.
Created in 2023, this painting is a unique original work — 1/1, signed by the artist.
Mounted on a 3 cm solid wood frame, it is delivered ready to hang.
Provenance: Maria Ruisi / Abstract Art Gallery, Riga.
Reinforced professional packaging and shipping by DHL Express.
Presentation
Maria Ruisi is a contemporary artist whose work explores balance, light, and depth through abstraction and wall sculpture. Her pieces reside at the boundary between painting and sculpture, where matter comes alive to dialogue with architectural space.
Trained in arts and design in Latvia, Maria Ruisi develops a rigorous practice informed by her background in engineering and visual perception research. This dual approach provides her work with a powerful contemporary presence and profound aesthetic coherence. Each creation is a unique, hand-crafted piece, where sculpted reliefs and pigments interact with light to reveal subtle variations throughout the day. Designed as silent presences, her works enhance prestigious environments, ranging from private collections to interior design and luxury hospitality projects.
