Description
Encaustic painting (wax and pigments) on cardboard fixed to a wooden frame. Signed on the back.
The gaze plunges into a chromatic field dominated by a solar ochre. The material spreads in successive layers. It creates a tactile and organic relief. Fine white circles scratch the canvas. These geometric lines bring mathematical rigor to the chaos of the pigments.
The balance is played between abstraction and sketch. In the bottom right, black lines suggest anatomical forms. A face seems to emerge timidly from the yellow background. This dialogue between the figurative and the abstract guides the reading.
The composition plays with transparency. Touches of white and deep red punctuate the whole. The light seems to come from within the surface.
The execution testifies to precise technical skill. The gesture is free but controlled. The artist uses superposition to give depth to the plane. The final rendering evokes an ancient parchment or a fresco weathered by time. The piece ends with a subtle contrast between the softness of the background and the sharpness of the graphic line.
Presentation
Of Italian origin, Lucia Diris devoted herself from a young age to painting, drawing and graphic art, studying the basics of which she studied in Urbino, at the prestigious Higher Institute of Decorative Arts (ISIA), in Italy.
After her studies, she went to France where she pursued a multifaceted career combining painting, graphic design, cinema, video, photography, ceramics….
Over the years, thanks to the knowledge gained from all these practices, his pictorial work will evolve from figuration towards an increasingly free and refined abstraction.
