Description
Abstraction imposes itself here with a marked chromatic intensity. Blue dominates the composition. It extends in broad swathes, evoking the depth of an ocean or the immensity of a night sky. Touches of light come to break this density. Splashes of ochre and white emerge like solar reflections on the water's surface.
The gesture is free. The paint flows in places, creating vertical lines that rhythmize the canvas. These drips bring an organic dimension to the whole. The contrast between the saturated areas and the lighter areas guides the eye towards the center of the composition.
The work on the material reveals a constant search for fluidity. The artist abandons figuration to explore the purity of forms. Each shade interlocks with the next to build an open visual space. The light seems to emanate from within the painting, playing with the transparencies and superimpositions of pigments. The balance rests on the opposition between the coldness of the blue and the warmth of the orange tones.
Presentation
Of Italian origin, Lucia Diris devoted herself from a young age to painting, drawing and graphic art, studying the basics of which she studied in Urbino, at the prestigious Higher Institute of Decorative Arts (ISIA), in Italy.
After her studies, she went to France where she pursued a multifaceted career combining painting, graphic design, cinema, video, photography, ceramics….
Over the years, thanks to the knowledge gained from all these practices, his pictorial work will evolve from figuration towards an increasingly free and refined abstraction.
