Description
This electrifying artwork bursts forth with an explosion of color and movement, capturing the viewer's attention with its dynamic circular composition. At the heart of this piece is a mesmerizing spiral, radiating outwards in an exhilarating kaleidoscope of hues. Bold strokes of electric blue and vibrant red dominate the innermost part, drawing the eye into the swirling vortex. As the spiral expands, it transitions into vivid yellows, oranges, and blacks, creating a striking contrast that lends depth and dimension to the work. The artist's masterful use of color and form is evident in the energetic, almost chaotic structure of the lines that fan out from the center. These lines are not mere strokes; they convey a sense of urgency and motion, as if they are the visual representation of a powerful force emanating from the core. Each layer of the spiral is meticulously crafted, with the color palette shifting seamlessly to maintain the viewer's engagement and compel the gaze to move inwards and outwards continuously. What sets this artwork apart is its ability to evoke a visceral reaction through its intense visual dynamism. The interplay between the contrasting colors and the centripetal force of the spiral creates an optical illusion of pulsation, adding a third dimension to the otherwise two-dimensional plane. This pulsating effect suggests an underlying energy, a heartbeat that animates the painting, making it not just a visual experience but also an emotional one. In essence, this artwork is a bold testament to the power of abstract expressionism. It challenges the viewer to abandon the familiar and to embrace the raw, unfiltered emotion elicited by the brilliant convergence of color and motion. This piece demands attention, and once it has it, captivates with its audacious, unrelenting energy.
Presentation
My name is Michael R. Grine and I am an process oriented artist. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas.
Statement
Curiosity. Emotion. Experimentation. Exploration. Leap of faith. Pursuit of knowledge. These words only begin to describe what my art signifies or represents. I was born an artist and have always identified myself as an artist. I possess an insatiable creative drive to make art out of the images I see in my mind. To help satisfy this impulse, I am always exploring new places and trying new things. Having freedom of expression and not being limited to one style or technique of making art are paramount to my identity as an artist. I love the many different processes of making art and experimenting with new ways of creating art.
My inspiration stems from color, music, literature, and the excitement about the unknown possibilities of taking everyday objects and using them in a way that differs from what the manufacturer intended. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas. Some of my methods include combining different chemicals and paint on paper or in plastic or wood box frames to distort vivid colors that are mixed or thrown right on the canvas. The result is the distortion of lines and contours, and layers of translucent or opaque paints on the canvas or in random patterns.
