Description
A strict order dominates the canvas.
Vertical lines divide the field of vision into precise segments. Deep red laser with Caput Mortuum meets a luminous, powerful red. Between them, razor-thin black lines set sharp accents. The composition deliberately omits any representational narrative. It exists only for itself.
The work follows the principles of Concrete Art. It is about the pure effect of color and form. The areas do not appear flat, but possess a palpable depth. This results from the elaborate layering process. High-quality pigments were applied in numerous thin layers. This creates a special luminosity of the color spaces.
The material basis remains an essential part of the aesthetic experience. The self-primed linen is visible. Its natural texture shines through the layers of paint. The fabric lends an organic component to the smooth geometry.
An exciting interplay arises between mathematical rigor and haptic presence.
A minimalist statement that appeals to the senses through pure color power. The work impresses through the exact guidance of the vertical edges.
The painting is constructed from numerous thin layers of paint, which consist of high-quality pigments in an acrylic dispersion,
High-quality, self-primed Belgian linen is used as canvas, whose structure remains clearly visible under the thin layers.
It is delivered on a stable wooden wedge frame. The sides are painted so that no additional frame is required.

Klaus Hoffmann, born 1957
In his works, Klaus Hoffmann explores the interactions of colors and forms, the special color contrasts and the effect of pure monochrome color surfaces.
In doing so, he avoids figurative associations and orients himself towards the art movement of Concrete Art.
He mostly uses geometric forms, which can also show deviations and breaks.
His aim is to create works that only represent themselves and do not refer to things that are outside the pictorial space, in the visible world.
They should also enable a sensual experience of the colors and forms and their interactions.
He works with pure, high-quality pigments, which are rubbed into aqueous acrylic dispersion and applied in numerous thin layers to give the color surfaces depth and enhance their luminosity.
Self-primed raw linen, whose natural structure remains recognizable, serves as the picture support.
This incorporates the picture support into the work and creates an autonomous overall work.
Hoffmann was educated at the Wiesbadener Freie Kunstschule and Freie Kunstakademie Frankfurt, with a focus on painting, composition, and color theory.
