Description
Bas relief, major work by Paul FLICKINGER
A dialogue is established between matter and color. This plastic work mixes acrylic, wood, and pigments in a dense composition. A deep blue background frames a central scene where the relief asserts itself.Â
The gaze falls on a stylized face, sculpted in wood. This central mask seems to watch over two diaphanous silhouettes. The assembly plays on the contrasts of textures. The raw wood meets the fluidity of the paint.Â
The artist explores here a form of controlled rusticity. Geometric elements and anthropomorphic shapes punctuate the space. Each material addition creates a tactile depth. The intense blue acts as a spiritual horizon.Â
The balance between sculpture and painting transforms the support into a three-dimensional object. The light catches the pigments and the roughness of the wood. The composition is organized around a luminous, almost ethereal center. This piece dated 20 testifies to a research into the metamorphosis of forms. The whole closes with a structured blue frame.

Paul Flickinger, born in 1941 in Colmar in the occupied France of Haut-Rhin. Flickinger is an internationally renowned Contemporary Painter and Sculptor. He lives and works in Lorraine. His artistic career has been crowned with numerous awards and distinctions. The scope of his work makes him a twenty-first century artist. Its journey carries with it metamorphoses of splendor in which the disarming rusticity often joins an ineffable space. Paul Flickinger's works can be found in numerous collections and museums around the world.
