Description
This work explores the idea of the observer and the observed — a reflection on presence, time, and the inseparable relationship between object and perception.
In physics, there is the concept of the observer effect: the act of observation changes the object being observed, while the observer also becomes part of the system. This painting follows a similar principle. It exists simultaneously as an object and as an image — both a physical frame and the artwork itself.
The wooden frame is not separate from the painting; it is primed, painted, and fully integrated into the composition. What would traditionally be considered the border becomes part of the interior scene. The café space expands beyond the central panel: the orange tree, the warm walls, the chairs, and the quiet domestic atmosphere flow naturally onto the frame, dissolving the boundary between artwork and structure. The frame is no longer a container — it becomes the painting.
This creates a visual metaphor for human experience. We often live in anticipation of the future, imagining what is ahead, while in reality we exist only in the present moment. Yet it is precisely our actions in the present that shape the future we are waiting for. The work reflects this paradox: the boundary between “now" and “later," between the container and the content, disappears.
The space of the café becomes a symbol of inner presence — a place where time slows down, where quiet observation turns into participation. The sleeping cat, the warm colors, the stillness of the chairs and table all suggest a suspended moment of life: ordinary, intimate, and complete.
This painting is about unity — between object and image, observer and observed, present and future. It invites the viewer not only to look at the work, but to become part of it.
Presentation
Ksenia Tsyganyuk, born in 1991 in northern Russia, began her artistic career after moving to Rivne, Ukraine. Her paintings—landscapes and still lifes—capture a joyful, childlike sense of wonder through vibrant colors, rich textures, and ornamental details. With a touch of naïveté in her imagery, she seeks to awaken the viewer's “inner child," reminding them of how beautiful the world is when one is free from expectations, eager to explore, and ready to experiment.
In today's fast-changing and stressful world—marked by crises, wars, and forced migration—it's easy to lose balance and feel overwhelmed. Ksenia's art offers a moment of respite, inviting viewers into a dialogue with their own feelings of lightness and freedom. She hopes to rekindle the emotions of childhood, when one felt safe, at home, and surrounded by love. Her goal is to create art that helps people reconnect with their inner Sun—the light that guides them through life.
Ksenia works in mixed media, blending acrylic and oil on canvas. She favors a loose, expressive style that preserves the spontaneity of each brushstroke, allowing emotions to flow freely onto the canvas.
