Description

My own neighborhood This graphite pencil drawing 'Mariahoeve – 03-05-24' is my next landscape sketch after 'Den Haag – Nassaulaan – 01-05-24'. This time it is my own neighborhood, which is the district of The Hague, called 'Mariahoeve'. Not a real jewel or a wandering beauty but it is my home at least. Sure, nothing spectacular or particular is happening, varied construction. There are many apartments but also single-family houses. The exciting aspect is that it is not far from the city center and the forest of The Hague. To this day, you must have already guessed why I did not draw it. In my artistic statement for Den Haag – Halstraat – 12-03-15, I mentioned Baudelaire. His call to artists to represent daily life, I cannot answer that regarding the place where I live. There are simply too many boring buildings. In fact, many neighborhoods here in the Netherlands all look identical. A beautiful path Nevertheless, redrawing landscapes there was something that bothered me. If only once to draw the place where I live! After all, there are also trees, small parks and even some canals. Then I remembered a path that I sometimes take to go to Voorburg to work. It is accessible from Het Kleine Loo just before the 'VUC' football club. Few people live there, especially dog walkers. It is charming though, especially in the spring. Many cardinals appear. So I went there yesterday when the weather was particularly nice. Also a real must-see. My bike had a flat tire so I had to go there on foot. So I took photos of the path. Then I could draw at Brugman’s while waiting for my bike to be repaired. So there, a tribute to my own Mariahoeve. pencil graphite drawing Pitt (Faber-Castell, 14B) on Winsor & Newton paper (10.5 x 14.8 x 0.1 cm) Artist: Cornè Akkers :: Drawing :: Impressionist :: This work is accompanied by an official certificate of authenticity signed by the artist :: Ready to hang: No :: Signed: Yes :: Signature location: Lower left corner :: Paper: Landscape :: Original: Yes :: Framed: No

Presentation

Corné Akkers was born in 1969 in Nijmegen, Netherlands. He grew up in a Bohemian environment, during the 70's. This ideal creative atmosphere inspired him and gave him the desire to paint. He trained in painting and drawing.

In his paintings, the artist explores the nude and portrait with several types of analysis and treatments, and doesn't lose sight on how light plays an important role. He combines the figurative style and the quest for abstraction, he plays around with colors and creates vast optical illusions. Not only is his work unique, his paintings shout out cubism but also surrealism and fauvism. They are so hypnotic that they are able to capture the look.

While working as a painter, Akkers also teach art at Voorburg in Netherlands. His paintings have been exhibited several times and sold to art collectors, all around the world.
