Description

One among many This graphite drawing 'Park Arentsburgh – 20-04-23' dates back to the outer edge of Voorburg. However, my latest drawing of Marlot is totally on the other side where The Hague ends. This is the Haaglanden region where all sorts of small parks are found. Nestled sometimes, where only dog walkers and runners reside. Occasionally an occasional artist lingers there, looking for suitable motifs to draw. That would be me. I see it as a task entrusted to me to draw a little attention to these little pearls. Forum Hadriani The place is actually where the Forum Hadriani used to be. It is not that one can notice it today. All the remains have disappeared now. Only a few plaques to explain where and how the old Roman city was located. The park itself is comparatively small, it even seems a little cramped. However, there are old trees to find and a small pond. From which some reflections of water, capturing the leafy structures in the water. Enough to draw wonderful artistic motifs. And I did that but it was only last year. It is still very cold, especially today. The north wind made me put on my gloves and the trees are not yet fully leafed out. So a drawing from my large pile of reference photos this time too. But I am patient. The general winter will soon disappear. Happy for me, unhappy for Putin. In-Betweenie Back to my drawing. This has become a sort of intermediary. This means I was drawing this, finishing my oil painting 'Melina Noëlle – 18-04-23'. The painting absorbed most of my attention last week but I have a little free time from time to time. So I sketched this little by little while waiting for my students at Brugman Art. I finalized it today by doing a few small things, especially in the leaves. Rather difficult to differentiate in the leaves in the back and to get contrast in the front. I started by hatching in my particular diagonal style. I quickly realized that I had to hatch in crosshatching to make it more interesting. Perhaps you agree? Presentation

Corné Akkers was born in 1969 in Nijmegen, Netherlands. He grew up in a Bohemian environment, during the 70's. This ideal creative atmosphere inspired him and gave him the desire to paint. He trained in painting and drawing.

In his paintings, the artist explores the nude and portrait with several types of analysis and treatments, and doesn't lose sight on how light plays an important role. He combines the figurative style and the quest for abstraction, he plays around with colors and creates vast optical illusions. Not only is his work unique, his paintings shout out cubism but also surrealism and fauvism. They are so hypnotic that they are able to capture the look.

While working as a painter, Akkers also teach art at Voorburg in Netherlands. His paintings have been exhibited several times and sold to art collectors, all around the world.
