Description
"Dual Unity" is a large-scale contemporary figurative work by French artist Natalya Mougenot, part of her ongoing and cohesive series dedicated to women.
The painting explores connection, intimacy, and shared strength through a powerful yet tender visual language.
The composition depicts two faceless women leaning gently into one another. Their closeness suggests trust, solidarity, and emotional support — a quiet dialogue without words. By deliberately omitting facial features, Mougenot transforms the figures into universal symbols of womanhood, allowing viewers to project their own stories, relationships, and experiences onto the canvas.
"Dual Unity" speaks to one of the central themes in Mougenot's practice: women as vessels of connection and transformation. The painting celebrates the power of togetherness — not as fusion or loss of self, but as mutual grounding. It is an ode to feminine bonds, whether between sisters, friends, or reflections of the self.
Created on professional, heavyweight, acid-free Italian Fabriano paper, the work benefits from a rich surface quality that supports layered pigments and expressive gestures.
Mougenot's intuitive, one-session process preserves spontaneity and emotional honesty, while ensuring long-term archival stability.
Guided by authenticity, the artist states: “People always feel if what is depicted on canvas is true or not. Authenticity and honesty in art — and in life — are essential."
“I paint what I feel in the moment. I don't try to please — I try to be sincere," says Natalya, whose art consistently celebrates the truth and depth of the human spirit.
In this spirit, "Dual Unity" offers collectors a contemporary figurative work that is both emotionally resonant and timeless — a piece rooted in connection, balance, and shared humanity.
Since 2022, her work has explored the theme of authentic connection — the longing for trust, truth, and meaningful bonds in a world that often moves too fast.
Over time, Natalya shaped her own visual language: expressive, colorful, intuitive, always rooted in emotion.
“Dual Unity is more than a figurative composition.
It's a visual poem about unity.
About standing together.
About the quiet strength we find in one another.

Presentation
Natalya is a contemporary french artist living in Lyon.
She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes.
She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country.
She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now.
In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism, which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult.
As an artist and as a woman she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion, is the pillar for the inner adult.
Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference.
She works rapidly and is constantly sensitive to the details.
Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach.
