Description
Lying on a red blanket, a young woman looks at the viewer. A transparent monster with prehistoric looks bites a lock of her hair. Other monsters, other animal or human forms hide in the folds of the draperies. In a corner of the terrace, the cat is sleeping. Every detail of the canvas is a painting in itself: the dove and its shadow, the face of the young woman, the urban landscape that recalls some paintings by Utrillo, the bush of pink laurels... The composition plays with geometric lines in a metaphysical (Giorgio de Chirico) and surrealist (René Magritte) atmosphere. The painting is a tribute to the classical odalisques painted by Giorgione, Titian, Botticelli, Ingres, Manet and many others. Oil on linen canvas. Signature FranSoist in the bottom right followed by XXVI. On the back, date and signature FranSoist as well as the artist's stamp.
Presentation
Born in 1952, FranSoisT paints and photographs. François Thiéry-Mourelet (for the civil status) signs his paintings "Fransoist" or "FsT". His works combine elegant women, powerful nature, dreams (or nightmares), cats, horses and gentle monsters. If the technique is classical (use of sfumato, verdaccio and glazing), the compositions are complex. The brushstroke, quick and oblique, superimposes natural or burnt earths (ochres, greens, browns, reds...) and blues. He also has a work as a watercolorist, illustrator of children's books and photographer. Since 1984, he has exhibited in Modena, Geneva, Cleveland, Thonon-les-Bains, Paray-le-Monial, Cachan, Saint-Ouen, Arcueil, Barbizon, Paris...
