Lilies under bridge, 2026

“Lilies under bridge" is an original contemporary abstract impressionist painting by French artist Natalya Mougenot, inspired by Claude Monet

The work captures the delicate poetry of a water garden scene while transforming it into something distinctly modern, expressive, and alive.

The composition suggests a bridge arching gracefully over a shimmering body of water filled with lilies and reflected light. Curved golden lines structure the bridge, while the surface below and above it is animated by layers of turquoise, green, pink, yellow, and white. This interplay between architecture, nature, and movement gives the painting a sense of rhythm and flow, as though the scene is constantly shifting in the light.

Natalya Mougenot's style is rooted in authenticity, sincerity, and emotional honesty. She does not copy what inspires her; instead, she absorbs it and reimagines it through her own intuitive language.

That spontaneous approach gives the painting its vitality and makes each mark feel personal and immediate. The result is a work that feels both thoughtful and free, structured and instinctive.

Her inspiration from Monet is evident in the atmospheric subject matter and the emphasis on light, reflection, and nature, but the execution is unmistakably her own. Rather than staying within impressionist conventions, she brings a contemporary energy to the scene through expressive line, layered color, and a modern graphic sensibility. The painting becomes a dialogue between past and present, memory and invention, observation and emotion.

Executed with acrylic paints and acrylic pens on heavyweight professional acid-free French paper with a vanished finish, the piece combines durability with a refined artistic surface. The paper supports the fluidity of the brushwork and the brightness of the drawn accents, allowing the colors to remain crisp and luminous. This material choice also reinforces the intimacy of the work, giving it the feel of a carefully crafted original piece on paper.

“Lilies under bridge" is a poetic and vibrant artwork that reflects Natalya Mougenot's unique vision. It is a painting shaped by inspiration, but even more by personal truth, artistic freedom, and a sincere connection to the act of making.
