“Soft dialogue" is a 70 x 100 cm contemporary expressive figurative painting of two women, approximately 27.56 x 39.37 inches, created with acrylic paints on heavyweight professional acid-free Italian paper. This is a standard size, making the work straightforward to frame without difficulty.
Natalya Mougenot chose paper intentionally, as it is one of the best supports for her technique, allowing her gestural brushwork, layered color, and immediate painterly language to unfold with clarity and energy.
Part of Natalya Mougenot's ongoing series dedicated to women, “Soft dialogue" continues her long-term exploration of femininity, presence, and human connection. Within this body of work, the female figure becomes a space of reflection, vulnerability, and strength—a way of asking how identity is shaped through proximity, memory, and silent exchange.
“I keep returning to the same subject," Natalya says, “because women are never a fixed image. They are many things at once—soft and strong, visible and private, intimate and distant."
In this painting, the two women stand close together, yet each retains her own emotional gravity. The work suggests a bond that is tender, complex, and alive—an exchange that does not need words to exist. “I am interested in what passes between two figures," she explains.
“Not a story in the literal sense, but a feeling, a tension, a quiet understanding."
Mougenot's treatment of form reinforces this sense of openness. Faces are deliberately unresolved, allowing gesture and color to carry emotional meaning.
The visible brushstrokes preserve the energy of making, while the simplified anatomy keeps the work rooted in feeling rather than realism. “I don't want to paint women as objects of looking," she says. “I want to paint them as living presences."
Color plays a central role in the emotional structure of the piece. The soft pink background creates an enveloping atmosphere, while the saturated chromatic accents bring intensity, contrast, and warmth. These colors do not merely describe the figures—they shape the emotional temperature of the entire painting.
The surface is protected with a special varnish, helping safeguard the painting from dust and fading over time. This added finish supports the longevity of the work while preserving the vibrancy of its colors and the freshness of its surface.
“Paper is my preferred medium for this technique," Natalya notes. “It allows me to keep the gesture alive. I need a surface that listens to the paint."
At the same time, “Soft dialogue" reflects a contemporary need for sincerity and authenticity. In a world increasingly dominated by speed, screens, and fragmentation, the work offers a slower encounter—one that invites reflection, empathy, and recognition.
“This is a painting made by hand, for the human eye," she says. “You can feel the difference. It carries the trace of time, hesitation, and emotion."
This painting is not about perfection or finish. It is about the trace of life, the immediacy of gesture, and the fragile beauty of human closeness. The result is a work that feels both intimate and monumental, expressive and tender.
Ideal for contemporary interiors, galleries, curated living spaces, and design-led environments, “Soft dialogue" brings both visual impact and emotional depth.
For collectors, it offers not just a painting, but a quiet meditation on femininity, connection, and the power of shared presence.

Natalya is a contemporary french artist living in Lyon.
She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes.
She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country.
She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now.
In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism, which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult.
As an artist and as a woman she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion, is the pillar for the inner adult.
Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference.
She works rapidly and is constantly sensitive to the details.
Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach.
