Description
Movement forms a distinct narrative thread throughout the artist's work.
In this painting, the direction of movement is from right to left—from consequence back to cause.
The woman leading the procession carries an object that resembles an egg, a symbol that appears repeatedly in the artist's paintings.
The scene suggests a return to the Source—a kind of reckoning, a report on how one has used the opportunities entrusted to them.
Life manifests itself through the woman.
The female figure symbolizes the soul.
The male figure represents the spirit.
It is the woman who bears responsibility because she is the one who chooses.
The procession is brought to its close by the men, whose role is to protect their community.
Such is the law of nature.
