Description
Stillpoint Structure is an original contemporary abstract painting created in 2026. Measuring 120 × 90 cm, the work explores the relationship between architectural structure, reflection, and atmospheric space through a sophisticated neutral palette and richly layered acrylic surfaces.
While creating this painting, I was interested in the point where solid forms begin to lose their boundaries. A strong horizontal axis crosses the composition while vertical elements extend through it like reflections, creating a dialogue between structure and movement, solidity and transparency.
I developed the surface gradually through multiple layers of professional acrylic paint using palette knives, brushes, scraping, glazing, and expressive mark-making. Areas were repeatedly built up, partially removed, and reworked, allowing traces of earlier layers to remain visible and giving the painting depth and material complexity.
The restrained palette combines ivory white, warm beige, taupe, greige, stone grey, charcoal, black, and earthy brown. Cooler grey passages contrast with warm sand and mocha tones, while areas of white introduce luminosity and open space. Dark linear elements provide an architectural framework and create visual rhythm across the composition.
Although entirely abstract, Stillpoint Structure may evoke reflected architecture, water, weathered surfaces, distant structures, or a minimalist landscape reduced to its essential forms. Rather than representing a specific place, I wanted the painting to remain open to interpretation and allow each viewer to discover their own associations within its layers.
With its large horizontal format and understated colours, the artwork creates a sophisticated presence in contemporary interiors and works particularly well with Minimalist, Japandi, Organic Modern, Wabi-Sabi, Modern Classic, and contemporary luxury spaces.
