Description
The port of Honfleur is one of the most beautiful ports in Normandy. Odile Raoul likes to go there in the winter on weekends to enjoy the view of the boats and eat mussels and fries, before the tourists arrive in the nice weather.
A colorful skyline cuts through a pristine blue sky. The artist captures the essence of an urban port with a geometric approach. The facades align in rhythmic blocks. Yellow, red, and gray alternate to create a precise visual cadence.
The eye glides over the reflections in the dark water. The masts of the sailboats rise like thin white lines. These vertical lines contrast with the horizontality of the quays. The whole exudes an ordered serenity.
The composition plays on the repetition of windows, forming a regular grid on the buildings. The light is uniform, without cast shadows, which accentuates the clarity of the scene. A bright red boat anchors the composition on the right. This strong chromatic touch attracts attention and balances the palette.
The work on the reflections brings a subtle depth to the image. Each color of the seafront is projected into the liquid mirror. The scene ends with the streamlined silhouette of a moored ship.

She works from photographs, which she takes on site during her journeys for the landscapes, or which she gathers from the press for the portraits. Then she allows memory to act on her memories. Thus, reality is reconstructed and stylized.
Odile creates a lost paradise that invites contemplation of the beauty of a colorful and sublimated world, far from the vicissitudes of the current era.
