About the artwork

Frédéric Bourret develops his photographic talent in New York City. Five years, five years to refine his style. His shots are amazing and the angles confusing. Frédéric is a photographer fascinated by cities, he wanders there on the lookout for the bewitching moment, the unusual moment. He is deeply seduced by this inimitable feeling, this hardness, this sensitivity, this urban daily life in a way. He speaks as much about himself, his hesitations, his certainties, his detachment, as about the subjects he photographs. On the urban landscape and its representation, his style is disconcerting: he chooses to show the city naked. We only very rarely find characters in these photographs, he wants to give back to the city all its importance, a bit like a tribute to its proportions and its poetry.

Frédéric Bourret began training as a photographer in New York, where he lived for several years. His immersion in the city allowed him to discover it from off the beaten track. Naturally he decided to pay homage to it through a series that allows us to rediscover New York, far from the clichés that describe a tumultuous and hectic city.

Frédéric Bourret has exhibited some forty times from New York to Berlin, Geneva to Paris... His work is recognised by collectors, specialists and amateurs alike, who appreciate his series which presents themes and approaches that are renewed each time. In addition, there have been three books published, dedicated to his work.
