Biografie
Crash oder John Matos ist ein Graffiti-Künstler, der am 11. Oktober 1961 in der Bronx geboren wurde. Er ist einer der Hauptakteure der "Aerosol (R) -Evolution".
Schon in jungen Jahren begann er mit Graffiti in New Yorker Zügen, bevor er auf Leinwänden übte.
Er trat 1983 in die Sidney Janis Galerie ein, bevor er die weltweit größten Sammlungen bei MOMA in New York und im Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam betrat.
Er erschien der Öffentlichkeit, indem er gemeinsam mit Keith Haring die Werbekampagne Peter Stuyvesant produzierte. Bekannt wurde er in Frankreich durch die Teilnahme an der Ausstellung 5/5 Figuration Libre, Frankreich-USA im Museum of Modern Art der Stadt Paris im Jahr 1984. Diese Ausstellung verglich die Arbeiten von Künstlern wie Basquiat , Boisrond, Combas, Keith Harring , Tseng Kwong Chi, Di Rosa… und John Matos Crash.
In einem Comic-ähnlichen Stil, immer mit extravaganten Farben, die für die Werbung spezifisch sind, behaupten sie sich als reines Produkt der zeitgenössischen Welt. Sie sind Teil der perfekten Linie der Pop Art und erheben diese vermutete Subkultur erneut in den Rang einer "großen Kunst".
