Pilar Ortega-Musitano

Argentina Born in: 1984
In Pilar Ortega's eyes, the line, which connects her human subjects that she draws in piles, acts as if it was the stake on which you can attach the world we must face. For her, drawing is a process that helps us face the world. She makes it her own, and dominates it. Drawing is the secret room she keeps to herself, we have access to it from the outside and there is a reason why she takes refuge in it. But her drawings also tell us that the world does not disturb her anymore, they are in this secret room where she is queen.

With the simplicity of a little girl, and the wisdom of one who already knows how to define herself and face to the world, Pilar Ortega-Musitano talks about her work using Deleuze's words : "The problem of the crowd is to successfully play into one another, like a multiplicity in multiplicities".

The crowd is massive despite the redundancy, and therefore full of multiplicities. This is where Pilar analyses the whole, herself and the crowd, and intervenes to save the individuals.
