Christine Flynn

Canada Born in: 1975

Christine Flynn studied at the Houghton College, where she obtained a BFA in Photography and Design.

Distracted by creating her future in the design world, Christine Flynn neglected her art for quite some time. UP70194 numbers on a tanker are what inspired her return "home". Home is not a place, rather memories of her life with others. Christine Flynn's work is not about her or what she has experienced, it is about what she has seen. Her landscape photographies are full of melancholy,

The moments she has captured and the memories that they trigger inside anyone who looks. She is drawn to the obvious, to the everyday, to the natural beauty and sometimes harsh reality that surrounds us. Christine Flynn's intention is not to recreate existence of objects that she shoots, rather to encourage the image to be seen beyond our own obliviousness.

UP70194 resonates within her and is expressed naturally without thought and/or preconception in her work along with additional numbers and letters, no rhyme or reason simply inspiration from the basic learning most of us had in our early childhood. She also uses vintage findings, old letters, images, and notes that are sometime collaged into the pieces and then resined for protection.
