Aboriginal art

Aboriginal art is a hugely broad term: it covers everything from the art made by Aboriginal people in Australia to contemporary artists taking inspiration from this traditional art. Across a range of mediums, from engraving to painting to sculpture, archetypal elements of the art style remain congruent. Recognizable features include aboriginal art animals, such as the depiction of kangaroos, snakes and turtles, all with their unique symbolic meanings. For many, Aboriginal Art is synonymous with religiosity and spirituality, and specific features such as the abroriginal dot art and aboriginal rock art have significant ancestral importance within Aboriginal culture.
