Hazel Miller's large, figurative paintings explore the processes of womanhood and selfhood. Her work references art history and the body to make phenomenological observations about consciousness and the female experience.
Her inspirations include Henri Rousseau, Marie Laurencin, and Henri Matisse. Originally from San Antonio, TX, she now calls Spokane, WA her home. She holds a BFA from the Pacific Northwest College of Art and is a recipient of an Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant.
