Description
Contemporary Fauvist-inspired floral still life, expressive acrylic painting on heavyweight professional acid-free paper (50 × 65 cm / 19.7 × 25.6 inches), radiant bouquet composition celebrating chromatic intensity and gestural freedom, echoing Henri Matisse's liberated use of color and rooted in metamodern authenticity.
In "Golden Sunflowers", French artist Natalya Mougenot continues her ongoing exploration of floral compositions as emotional landscapes, where color transcends representation and becomes pure sensation. The bouquet bursts forward with vitality — a luminous gathering of sun-like blossoms radiating warmth, energy, and inner light.
“I am drawn to flowers that feel like light," Natalya shares. “They are not just forms — they are sources of energy."
“I never want the painting to feel fixed," Natalya explains. “Even objects should feel like they are still becoming." This philosophy is evident in the vase, where structure dissolves into color, and color becomes movement.
Working on heavyweight professional acid-free paper intensifies the directness of her gesture. Pigment sinks into the surface while maintaining vibrancy, and each brushstroke remains visible — unapologetic, alive, and uncorrected. Nothing is overworked; the painting retains the immediacy of its making.
Authenticity lies at the core of this work. “If I start to control too much, the painting loses its truth," Natalya reflects.Â
“I trust the first movement, the first impulse." This intuitive approach aligns with her connection to metamodernism — an artistic space where sincerity and awareness coexist.
In Golden Sunflowers, this oscillation is palpable. The bold, almost childlike joy of color is balanced by a quiet sensitivity to composition and rhythm. The painting embraces beauty without irony, expression without hesitation.
Color is liberated entirely from realism. Yellows glow with emotional intensity, greens pulse with life, and shadows are infused with unexpected hues.Â
“I paint how warmth feels, how light feels — not what I see, but what I experience," she says.
“Art should feel alive," Natalya affirms. “It should carry the moment it was created in." In this work, every line, every gesture, holds that immediacy.
Ideal for contemporary, creative, or light-filled interiors, Golden Sunflowers radiates warmth, spontaneity, and expressive clarity. It stands as both a celebration of color and a testament to authenticity — a reminder that beauty emerges most powerfully when it is felt, not controlled.

Presentation
Natalya is a contemporary  french artist living in Lyon. Â
She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes. Â
She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country.
She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now.
In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism, Â which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult. Â
As an artist and as a woman  she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion,  is the pillar for the inner adult. Â
Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference.
She works  rapidly  and is constantly sensitive  to the details. Â
Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach.
