Dérive Royale, Circa 2026

Maria Ruisi

Royal Drift. There are paintings that stop time. Royal Drift is one of them. Executed in 3D acrylic on canvas, this 51 x 51 cm square work draws the eye into a mesmerizing choreography of sculpted, flowing waves. A deep royal purple ripples against an intense midnight blue, while a sinuous ribbon of warm champagne gold flows through the composition like a river of light carving its way through dark velvet. The surface has a generous matte-satin texture—built up in layers of relief that catch the light differently at every hour of the day, making this canvas a living work that transforms with its surroundings. The composition is hypnotic by nature. The curves never resolve—they spiral inward, drawing the viewer ever deeper, evoking the sensation of silk in motion, of a breath suspended between two heartbeats. The work is at once powerful and serene, regal and intimate. Presented in an elegant matte black US Box frame (6 cm deep), the artwork arrives ready to hang and makes an immediate statement on any wall—be it a contemporary interior, a minimalist loft, or a refined collector's space.
