“Summer Blush" is an original floral still life oil painting on stretched cotton canvas by French contemporary artist Natalya Mougenot, measuring 55 × 46 × 2 cm (21.7 × 18.1 × 0.8 inches), a vibrant modern flower artwork created in her signature expressive and intuitive style.

Part of the artist's ongoing series dedicated to floral still lifes, Summer Blush is a celebration of authenticity, emotional honesty, and artistic freedom. Rather than pursuing academic realism or meticulous representation, Natalya Mougenot embraces an intuitive creative process where spontaneity guides every decision. The painting emerges through instinctive gestures, energetic brushwork, and a fearless exploration of color, allowing emotion to lead the way.

Rooted in a contemporary metamodern sensibility, the work moves gracefully between joy and nostalgia, vitality and contemplation. The bouquet appears almost alive, dissolving and re-forming through layers of luminous pinks, vibrant greens, turquoise blues, and flashes of warm crimson and gold. The flowers are not rendered as botanical studies but as emotional impressions — fleeting moments of beauty captured through movement, rhythm, and color.

As Natalya Mougenot explains:

“I do not paint flowers as objects. I paint the sensation of life moving through them."

The vivid turquoise background creates a striking contrast with the soft pink blossoms, while the glowing red vase anchors the composition with warmth and energy. Thick, expressive brushstrokes remain visible throughout the canvas, inviting the viewer to experience not only the finished image but also the physical act of painting itself. Every mark becomes evidence of a moment, a gesture, a feeling.

For Mougenot, painting is an act of liberation rather than control. There are no rigid rules, no predetermined outcomes, and no restrictions imposed by convention. The work embraces uncertainty, trusting intuition to reveal something more truthful than perfection.

In the artist's words:

“Freedom in painting begins when you stop trying to control every gesture and allow emotion to breathe on the canvas."

This philosophy places Summer Blush within a broader contemporary movement that values sincerity, vulnerability, and emotional resonance. The painting celebrates imperfection as a source of beauty and spontaneity as a pathway to authenticity.

“I trust spontaneity more than perfection. The most honest paintings are often born from instinct, not calculation."

Summer Blush will appeal to collectors and art lovers who appreciate contemporary expressive painting, modern impressionism, color-driven artwork, metamodern aesthetics, and emotionally charged floral compositions. It is particularly suited to those seeking original art that feels personal, vibrant, and alive.

The painting would complement a wide range of interiors, including contemporary homes, modern apartments, creative studios, boutique hotels, elegant bohemian spaces, colorful minimalist interiors, and refined eclectic settings. Its luminous palette and energetic presence bring warmth, optimism, and a sense of creative freedom to any environment.

Presentation

Natalya is a contemporary  french artist living in Lyon.

She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes.

She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country.

She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now.

In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism,  which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult.

As an artist and as a woman  she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion,  is the pillar for the inner adult.

Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference.

She works  rapidly  and is constantly sensitive  to the details.

Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach.
