De mon projet : lettres synesthésiques

Anna est rouge et Mary est d'un bleu foncé profond. Depuis que je suis enfant, j'ai trouvé qu'il était très facile de me souvenir du nom des gens et j'ai été très surpris lorsque d'autres ont eu des problèmes avec cela. Tout simplement parce que chaque nom a toujours eu une couleur spécifique, généralement la couleur de son initiale. Naturellement, je pensais que tout le monde dans le monde avait la même expérience dans sa tête : lettres colorées, chiffres, noms de mois, jours de la semaine, etc.
Ce n'est qu'il y a 2 ans que j'ai réalisé que non, tout le monde n'était pas comme ça et que j'avais une forme de synesthésie, une condition sensorielle extraordinaire qui vous permet d'expérimenter l'un de vos sens à travers un autre. Certains synesthètes entendent, sentent, goûtent ou ressentent la musique en couleur. D'autres goûtent des formes, et d'autres encore perçoivent des chiffres écrits, des lettres et des mots en couleur. Ce dernier est ce que moi et mon amie et collaboratrice Jane Kristoferson avons. C'est aussi la plus courante, connue sous le nom de "synesthésie graphémique". Alors que différents individus ne rapportent généralement pas les mêmes couleurs pour toutes les lettres et tous les chiffres, des études avec un grand nombre de synesthètes trouvent des points communs entre les lettres (par exemple, A est susceptible d'être rouge).
Un certain nombre d'artistes, d'écrivains et de scientifiques avaient une synesthésie, parmi lesquels Vincent Van Gogh, Wassily Kandinski, Vladimir Nabokov, Nicola Tesla, etc. Certains synesthètes auraient appris à appliquer leurs capacités dans la vie quotidienne et au travail, par exemple, ont utilisé leurs capacités de mémorisation de noms et de numéros de téléphone, de calcul mental et d'activités créatives plus complexes telles que la production d'art visuel, de musique et de théâtre.

Nous voyons donc le monde un peu différemment. Avec ce projet amusant, nous voulons partager notre expérience avec le monde et essayer de rappeler aux gens qu'il ne peut y avoir qu'une seule "bonne" façon de voir les choses dans ce monde.

De quoi parle mon art ?

J'explore les thèmes des émotions, des relations, de la découverte de soi et de la redéfinition de soi. Chaque photographie que vous voyez ici vous fera voyager dans l'âme d'un personnage et en même temps, probablement, vous fera penser aux événements et aux choses de votre vie qui vous ont le plus marqué et qui ont peut-être changé votre vie. .

Quel genre de sentiment cela apporte-t-il à votre maison?

Paix et tranquillité. Force et confiance. Un grain de mélancolie. Avec un peu de fantaisie, de mystère et de fantaisie. Ce sera toujours un rappel doux et silencieux que rien n'est ce qu'il semble et que vous devriez toujours aller plus loin pour percevoir le vrai sens.

Comment je travaille

Je choisis des tons sourds, des compositions strictement organisées, des espaces minimalistes propres et beaucoup de symbolisme pour transmettre mes idées. Chaque histoire visuelle ici a une intrigue définie mais est toujours ouverte à l'interprétation.

Mon processus

Chaque photo prend de 1 semaine à plusieurs mois de planification et de préparation : réflexion sur l'histoire et l'intrigue, planification de la palette de couleurs, croquis, repérage des lieux, création des accessoires, choix de la garde-robe appropriée, recherche du maquillage et de la coiffure appropriés. puis mélanger le tout. Dans la plupart des cas, toute une équipe est impliquée dans le processus de tournage. Je n'utilise jamais d'images de stock pour créer mon art, je photographie moi-même tous les détails sur place. Une fois la prise de vue terminée, le post-traitement d'une seule image prend en moyenne 5 à 7 heures dans Lightroom et Photoshop.

Je choisis les matériaux les plus écologiques et durables pour créer mes impressions parce que je me soucie du monde dans lequel nous vivons. Toutes les œuvres sont imprimées sur du papier Hahnemühle Bamboo FineArt de qualité musée (290 g/m², 90 % fibres de bambou, 10 % coton) et sont des impressions Giclée avec une espérance de vie jusqu'à 200 ans. Tous les tirages d'art sont signés à la main par moi (au recto et au verso) et sont accompagnés d'un certificat d'authenticité. Tous les tirages non encadrés ont une bordure de 3 cm (1,2 po).

Votre impression est emballée professionnellement par un studio d'impression d'art avec 40 ans d'expérience et expédiée par des services de livraison premium (UPS ou DHL). Where can I have my order delivered?

Why do I have to pay customs fees?

Return and cancellation

You can return the artwork without needing to provide a reason or pay a penalty fee up to 14 days after receiving your order.

In the case that the right of withdrawal is exercised in the aforementioned time frame, the price of the artwork(s) purchased and the shipping costs will be reimbursed by us as soon as the gallery has received the artwork and notified us.

Artsper will manage the return of the work and will bear the cost of returns (which will either be paid by you and refunded by Artsper or directly paid by Artsper).

The artwork must be returned in perfect condition and in its original packaging (or equivalent).
